What You Didn't Know About Frozen Fruit

   Red Raspberries

Frozen fruit and vegetables can be better for you than fresh fruit and vegetables! Fruit generally has approximately 2 days of prime ripeness during which time they hold the highest amount of nutritional value. Fruit and veggies picked and frozen during their prime ripeness retain all of their nutritional density until thawed. Where fresh vegetables will lose some of their nutritional density in the time it takes for them to be picked, packed, shipped and sold.

Thawing your fruits and vegetables

Once thawed, fruit and veggies will spoil at the same rate as fresh fruit and veggies.

Vegetables: To thaw, cook vegetables in a small amount of water until done (usually takes around half the amount of time it would for fresh vegetables.

Fruit: You can thaw fruit at room temperature, or submerge the package into nuke warm water. It’s okay to serve with ice crystals – this will give the fruit a crispy feel – as freezing can sometimes diminish the crispness of fruit.
